Getting Free Blog Images For Small Business Blogs

By Reed Slidell

Reading a blog that's all text can be boring. The computer monitor isn't exactly the most comfortable tool for reading and lengthy articles can be a sore to the eyes. Luckily, there are free blog images that can make a world of difference. With images on posts, your site can absolutely look better. But apart from the increase of visual attractiveness, the images can also provide your blog some search engine optimization (SEO) value. Fantastic benefits for your internet business, don't you think?

Blogging images can be found in many sites, but you have to ensure that they are open for everyone's use. See, many photos online are protected by copyrights and committing the mistake of touching them can be disastrous on your part.

For one, you may have to be confronted by the photo owner and asked to take down what you uploaded. Two, in some extreme cases, you may even have to face a lawsuit. Now, you wouldn't want either, right?

Fortunately, many free blog images are available for public use. In most cases, you will just have to make attribution to the owner. Images like these fall under what is known as Creative Commons (CC) license.

Simply put, Creative Commons is an organization that let people share and utilize creativity and knowledge by using free legal tools in SEO companies. They created a standard in giving permission to people who wanted to share and use their (and others') creative works.

Now, take caution in taking CC licenses as copyright replacements. They are not. What CC licenses do is modify some copyright terms according to the decision of the creator. For instance, if a photo has an "all rights reserved" status, the owner can use a CC license that will allow others to use his or her image based on his or her own regulation. Say, he or she can allow the using, editing, tweaking, and the building up of the image as long as he or she is credited. Or, he or she can limit what can be done to it too.

Now, let's move on to choosing the right image for your post.

Since there are plenty of options, you will likely encounter instances when you can't make up your mind on which photo to use. The easiest way out of this is by using the search box on the photo site you are in.

On the search box, you can type the title of your post, the keywords you may have used, or simply the topic of the entry. The site can already present images that are connected with them in one way or another. However, it is also ideal to be a little more creative when it comes to searching for a photo. For example, if your post is about starting something new, you can use photos that imply newness such as breaking of the dawn or blooming of a flower. They can be a great way to tickle the fancy and entice the mind too.

Free blog images provide an opportunity to make your blog posts a lot more pleasurable to read. Don't hesitate to give them a try because if you do, you would miss a lot of its good.
