The Mini Fridge, Beyond The Kitchen

There are all sorts of different appliances, but few that pack as much bang for the buck as the mini fridge. Unheeded for many years, their stock is rising once more. Given their energy efficiency and small size, is it any wonder? As the following examples prove, they go far beyond the confines of the kitchen.

Without a doubt, tiny refrigerators are still greatly beloved in dorm rooms. They make the most sense for the tight space in many dorms, providing enough storage to be beneficial for college students.

The tv room or den makes an ideal place for a mini fridge. Avoid running to and from the kitchen during sporting events, movies or parties by storing a stock of snacks and beverages in the same room as you are.

Put a mini fridge in the office. The best way to prevent your lunch from being eaten by coworkers is to keep it away from them in the first place. It also helps if getting away for lunch is difficult.

Their use in theatres is widespread. Keeping water bottles on tap for stagehands and actors is sometimes essential for health and safety.

A mini bar is one of the more popular suggestions for miniature fridges. It can keep alcohol away from children, but still keep things cold for after their bed time.

Doctors and labs will use full sized refrigerators to keep medicine cold. If there is a large amount of medicine needed for personal use, a miniature fridge will allow you to keep the medicine benumbed without sacrificing the storage of your regular unit.

Take a tip from a trucker, keep one in the car. Several models are equipped with 12V plug ins. Without the continual stops for food, gas mileage will improve and your arrival will come all the sooner. This new found portability also is useful when comping.

As made popular on YouTube, and shown on The Graham Norton Show an unorthodox use has been found for small refrigerators. Two industrious college students have cobbled together a beer cannon out of a mini fridge. Attached to a webcam, they position and fire the cannon through an iPhone app of their own devising.

In the United Kingdom and throughout Europe, the miniature refrigerator is commonly used in place of its larger cousins. They are cheaper to operate and if you only have a few things to refrigerate, like eggs or milk, they make perfect sense.
