By Dhruv Patel

As internet marketers we all need to learn more about list building - the common mistakes that kill email marketing campaigns. Without a doubt, they all realize that building lists is what internet marketing is all about and so you cannot afford any slip-ups on this account. Small mistakes can blow a big hole in your internet marketing campaign while when everything is done properly you can achieve stupendous success. So, you must learn about the mistakes and how to avoid them as only then can you achieve success in your mission.

The vast majority of novice internet marketers tend to assume (quite wrongly of course) that all that is required in order to profit from building a list is to add as many people as you can to the list and then results will start showing up. This is a false assumption and one that will only highlight list building - the common mistakes that kill email marketing campaigns. While adding names is important it is only one part of the whole process and so should be treated as such.

The best way of building a list is to use those wonderful tools called auto-responders that can help you stay in constant touch with prospects who will also remain interested in your products and/or services. The biggest mistake people make is to purchase lists rather than build them on their own. The reason why purchasing a list will not prove to be good for you is that these lists only provide numbers and internet marketing is not about the numbers game.

This is also a mistake that most novice link builders make because they get swayed by the prospect of huge numbers of names and fail to realize that well constructed lists of more qualified customers can prove to be of far more use.

The second mistake that you will need to learn how to avoid is learning about the dangers of spamming which is not recommended and which is also not legal. It can put off your potential customers and you can also be slapped with penalties. So, don't ever spam people!

Another thing that you should watch out for is that you should create a subject line that is informal, personal and not something that reads like something written by an English teacher. The subject line needs to be created with a view to grabbing the recipient's attention and so using formal language is not recommended.

It is also not recommended that you place information in your emails that is meant to deceive or even mislead the recipient. Such a method is dangerous and if you are found out the consequences can be very detrimental to your email marketing campaign. So, never try to do this!

Lastly, to understand list building - the common mistakes that kill email marketing campaigns it is also important to send emails up to a certain limit. This means that often less is more and nowhere is this more apt than when sending emails. So, be sure to not try and inundate people with too many emails. Sending a few will often have a more desirable impact.
