Beginning a Business: Where to Publicize

By Charles Ma

Whether or not you are a SEO Singapore Consultant crossing over to a new field or a fresh graduate who is preparing to set up his first business, staring a brand new business will be a challenge. And one of the most important choices that you need to consider is where you need to advertise your business.

Ads or promoting is the force that every business needs to get customers. If you don't advertise, only a few folks will know about your products or services-and these folk are most likely your friends! And if you would like to get a decent living from your business, you have to go out there and make chums. And this time, chums mean customers.

Here's the good news: with the popularity of the internet and other technologies, you now have more methods to advertise- offline and online.

And the bad news is: with all of the millions of ways to advertise, it does get harder to get spotted.

Now, I believe that there is only one golden rule in advertisement: be where the consumers are.

When you want to publicize, you have to have a specific audience. You shouldn't just do an ad campaign, spread it whenever and wherever and just hope it reaches someone's attention. You need to have a target.

So that's the first thing about where you need to advertise. You need to have a focused or a subset of folks that you need to attract.

Next, you need to think like your clients or to draw from your experience. For instance, you are a SEO Singapore Consultant who is now planning to leave the IT world and start her own career as wedding planner (pretty big change, eh?), well, you can use your understanding in SEO to make a wedding planner website.

You should ask yourself, if I'm a bride arranging a marriage (let's admit it, grooms don't plan weddings), where will I go? Bridal shops, wedding bazaars, churches. Where should you be? Online, bridal mags, bridal sites and the marriage section of papers.

Another idea to find buyers is to visit the offline methods of advertisement. Design and print out fliers. Give them out or post them in cafes, malls, etc. Print out your card, give it to new acquaintances. If you've got the budget, advertise on magazines and papers.

Your customers are the most vital ingredient that you need in your business. If you would like a thriving company, you want buyers. And you owe it to oneself, your staff (if any) and your clients to find and think of ways to reach a larger audience.
