Might you purchase your son a harpoon gun? :-

By Alex Robins

Is this a strange question? I've never been asked it so I'm guessing it is. I'm not actually buying my son a harpoon gun although I'm pretty sure he would love it! The reason I ask this is more the reasoning behind it. Let me explain if you are not sure what I'm trying to get at.

The question ought to actually read :-Q: Would you acquire your most beloved person within the whole globe and instrument where they could seriously hurt, and even kill themselves? A: No, Really don't be stupid Naturally not.

But all of us do really don't we? Now ahead of this gets all righteous and "health and safety gone mad" due to the fact I assure you I'm not this way inclined I'll tell you why this can be on my thoughts.

My son has recently bmx bikes, broke his leg in 7 places, ouch. He did this by trying to be too clever with his nice shiny new BMX bike that I bought him for his 13th birthday. Now rest assured, I'm from the camp of "these things happen" I firmly believe this, we cannot prevent these things. However, this is my baby boy (all be it, that he's 13) and he hurt himself on the bike that I willingly gave him, in my head this has become "here son, here's your first set of butcher knives enjoy!" Ok so that's a little extreme, but you get my point.

Please really don't get me wrong, kids are going to be youngsters, but in this instance I knew that this gift has the potential to do harm if employed badly or having a lack of encounter and understanding. I knew he'd fall off it at some point, I knew he'd graze his knee or some such minor injury, but this was severe.Luck with the draw? Wrap them up in cotton wool? Or accept it that these factors transpire?By nature I'm tempted by the latter, but I can't seem to let this one go. To get a little diagnostic for a moment, I think I really feel in charge of what occurred, I've a sense of guilt that I'm not ready to shake off that is causing me to cling to this as opposed to moving on and assisting him really feel improved. If any one of you reading this article, can give me some feedback, please let me know as I am in turmoil of this.
